The paper describes a new method of research on micro- and mesoscale high-rate deformation of metals (Ej ~ 105 -107 s-1). The method is based the collapse of cylindrical hole of initial diameter D0 = 0.5-2 mm by shock waves of known intensity and duration. The method was tested on annealed coarse-grained M1 copper.
